Anambra Community Offers N10m Reward for Information on Killers of 20 Villagers

In a bold move to tackle the rising insecurity in their area, the Ezinano community in Anambra State has announced a N10 million reward for any information leading to the arrest of suspected cultists responsible for the killing of over 20 persons. The community leader, Jeff Nweke, made the announcement during the town's empowerment program, emphasizing the need for collaboration between the police and the community to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The recent cult attacks in Nibo and Awka, Anambra State, have left residents in a state of fear and uncertainty. Just two weeks ago, gunmen suspected to be cultists invaded Nibo community, killing over 15 persons and leaving many injured. The attack was followed by another incident in Ifite, a neighboring community, where seven persons were killed under similar circumstances. The victims included innocent civilians, traders, and artisans who were going about their daily activities.

The community is seeking information that will help the police apprehend those responsible and bring an end to the bloodshed. Nweke also announced N50 million in empowerment funds for indigent women to support their farming activities and boost socio-economic development. Another community leader, Arinze Ekelem, attributed the rise in crime to the "get rich-quick" syndrome and urged parents to instill sound moral values in their children.

As the community seeks justice and peace, they are calling on anyone with information to come forward. The reward is a significant step towards holding the perpetrators accountable and ensuring that such heinous crimes do not go unpunished.

The community leadership, under Nweke, has pledged to work closely with security agencies to ensure the arrest and prosecution of the culprits. The empowerment program, which included the distribution of funds to women, aims to promote economic growth and stability in the area.

Responding on behalf of the women, a community leader, Ngozi Nnonyelu, thanked the community leadership for the gesture and prayed to God to reward them abundantly. Nnonyelu assured the people that the women would prevail on their children to curb youth restiveness and use the empowerment money for the intended purpose.
