Enugu State Government Urges Citizens to Ignore Sit-at-Home Order, Describes Sponsors as Enemies of Ndi Igbo

The Enugu State Government has strongly condemned the illegal sit-at-home order declared by faceless non-state actors for Tuesday, October 29, 2024, in protest of the killing of popular Ogene musician, Okezie Mba, aka Igbo Jah. Describing the sponsors and promoters of the sit-at-home as enemies of Enugu State and the Igbo nation, the government has directed citizens to disregard the order and go about their normal activities.

Governor Peter Mbah has ordered a thorough investigation into the killing, and the culprit is already in custody. The government has assured that justice will be served and that anyone found culpable will be severely punished. A delegation from the state government, led by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Chidiebere Onyia, and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barr Victor Udeh, visited the bereaved family to empathize with them and reemphasize the government's commitment to justice.

The Enugu State Government views the sit-at-home order as an attempt by criminal elements to exploit the situation, cause mayhem, restrict economic activities, and inflict pain on the people. These opportunists, according to the government, do not mean well for the people of Enugu and Igbo at large.

The government has vowed to muster all powers at its disposal to protect the lives and property of its citizens. Civil servants, farmers, market men and women, corporate sector, business and shop owners, schools, teachers, and all workers in Enugu State are urged to ignore the sit-at-home order and go about their normal activities.

Furthermore, the government frowns at attempts to incite fear and promote the illegal order through social media and other platforms. Anyone found sharing such content will be dealt with accordingly, serving as a deterrent to others.

Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Anayo Uzuegbu, reiterated the determination of security agencies and the government to deal ruthlessly with troublemakers. The government, in conjunction with security agencies, has assured citizens of their safety and security.

By standing firm against the sit-at-home order, the Enugu State Government demonstrates its commitment to maintaining law and order, protecting its citizens, and promoting economic growth and development. The government's swift response to the killing and its condemnation of the sit-at-home order have reassured citizens of its dedication to justice and peace.

In a statement issued by Prof Onyia, the government emphasized that the sit-at-homes belong to an inglorious past that must be erased from memory. The people of Enugu State are known for their enterprise, hard work, and creativity, and the government will not allow criminal elements to disrupt their lives.

As the people of Enugu State prepare to go about their normal activities on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, the government's message is clear: the sit-at-home order will not be tolerated, and justice will be served for the killing of Igbo Jah.
