Enugu State Revolutionizes Taxation with Single Payment System

The Enugu State Internal Revenue Service has introduced a groundbreaking single yearly unified tax payment system, eliminating the long-standing issue of multiple taxation. This innovative e-ticketing solution allows business owners in the informal sector to pay their taxes just once a year, streamlining the process and reducing bureaucratic hurdles.

According to Emmanuel Ekene Nnamani, Chairman of the Enugu State Internal Revenue Service, "Enugu State has the most friendly tax environment, especially in the informal sector" . The new system enables business owners to pay once and avoid multiple tax requests from different revenue-generating ministries, departments, and agencies.

The e-ticket system consolidates payments, ensuring transparency and flexibility. Business owners can choose to pay monthly, quarterly, or annually, catering to their unique needs. For instance, market traders in Enugu State pay only once a year, and nobody disturbs them again in terms of revenue.

Similarly, the formal sector benefits from a Consolidated Demand Notice, which allows business owners to pay Land Use Charge and ESWAMA bills in a single payment. This eliminates the need for multiple payments, making the tax payment process easier and more efficient.

By introducing this streamlined tax payment system, Enugu State demonstrates its commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment. The state recognizes the importance of businesses in driving tax generation, economic growth, and development. Paying taxes is a vital civic responsibility that directly contributes to the state's collective progress and development, funding crucial public services such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure .

This development is a significant step forward in promoting ease of doing business in Enugu State, and its impact will likely be felt across various sectors. As the state continues to innovate and improve its tax administration, it sets a shining example for other states to follow.
