The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a freedom-seeking movement, has issued a stern warning to Igbo youths to avoid joining the Nigerian Army's ongoing recruitment exercise. According to IPOB's Directorate of State, led by Mazi Nnamdi Okwu Kanu, Nigeria's intentions are sinister, and joining the army would put Igbo youths in harm's way.
Comrade Emma Powerful, IPOB's Media and Publicity Secretary, emphasized that Nigeria's history of betrayal and hatred towards Ndigbo is well-documented. "The Nigerian Army has consistently used Igbo soldiers as scapegoats, as seen in the May 30th, 2024, Biafran Heroes Day celebration, where five Igbo soldiers were assassinated," he stated. Powerful also noted that the army's recruitment is designed to exploit and discard Biafran youths, leaving Biafra land defenseless against state-sponsored terrorism.
Powerful warned that joining the Nigerian Army would make Igbo youths complicit in their own demise. "We urge Igbo youths to heed our warning and avoid the Nigerian Army recruitment. IPOB's role is to educate Biafrans about Nigeria's hatred and expose the evil strategies used against them," he said.
The IPOB has previously warned Igbo youths to avoid British Army recruitment, labeling it a "deceptive" scheme designed to exploit African soldiers ¹. In June 2024, IPOB also cautioned against dialogue with Yoruba leaders, citing deception and hidden agendas
In conclusion, Comrade Emma Powerful emphasized, "Let him who has ears hear and let the fools keep fooling themselves until Nigeria happens to them. Avoid the Nigerian Army recruitment or perish in your ignorance. In the end, Biafra must be restored."
