Enugu Residents Defy Sit-at-Home Order, Opt for Peaceful Coexistence

In a show of resilience and unity, residents of Enugu State ignored a sit-at-home order issued by Finland-based Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa, on Tuesday. The order was allegedly in response to the tragic killing of popular Ogene musician, Igbo-Jah.

Despite the call for shutdown, daily life continued uninterrupted, with traders and business owners going about their normal activities. Residents interviewed in Abakpa Nike and Ogbete main market condemned the sit-at-home order, labeling it a senseless attempt by faceless agitators to disrupt peace.

"We know our genuine leaders, and they wouldn't disrupt our peaceful lives," said Mr. Sunday Chukwu, a trader at Ogbete main market.

Major markets, including Mayor market along Agbani road, remained bustling with activity.

In a significant development, the Commander of the Anti-Kidnapping unit where Igbo-Jah was killed has been transferred, while the officer responsible has been dismissed and sentenced.

The Enugu State government's plea to ignore the sit-at-home order seems to have resonated with residents, who prioritized peace and normalcy.
