Anambra State, Nigeria - In a shocking and devastating incident, gunmen ambushed police personnel in the Uruagu area of Nnewi North Local Government Area, killing two officers in the early hours of yesterday morning.


The attackers employed an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) to carry out the deadly assault, according to the police command. The Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident to journalists in Awka, the state capital.


Eyewitnesses describe the scene as chaotic, with gunfire ringing out and the sound of explosions echoing through the area. The police vehicle was severely damaged, and the two officers were pronounced dead at the scene.


The police command has condemned the attack and vowed to bring those responsible to justice. The motive behind the attack is still unclear, but authorities suspect it may be linked to ongoing security concerns in the region.


The Anambra State Police Command is working tirelessly to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. A joint security task force has been deployed to the area to enhance security and restore order.
