In a bold move to ensure the highest quality and safety standards in healthcare, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has ordered the immediate closure of all private healthcare institutions operating within the state. This decision comes after recent findings from the Ministry of Health and the State Government raised serious concerns about the operations of numerous unregistered private health training institutions in Katsina State.

According to Umar Mammada, Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, many of these institutions are unregistered and substandard, posing significant risks to the public. "While we acknowledge the crucial role that private healthcare plays in our health ecosystem, it is imperative to ensure the highest quality and safety for all citizens," Mammada stated during a press briefing held at the Ministry of Information and Culture, Katsina.

The decision to shut down these facilities was prompted by the discovery of several unregistered private health training institutions operating in the state. These institutions fail to meet the necessary legal requirements, compromising public safety. The presence of such institutions poses significant risks to public health, necessitating swift action from the state government.

Governor Radda's administration recognizes the vital role private healthcare plays in the state's health ecosystem. However, the government cannot compromise on quality and safety standards. To address these concerns, the Katsina State Government has decided to close all private health training institutions until further notice.

The closure will remain in effect until a thorough re-evaluation and fresh registration process is conducted, ensuring every institution meets the stringent health standards required to operate. To facilitate this process, proprietors of these institutions are requested to present themselves at the State Ministry of Health with all necessary documentation from Thursday, 24th to Friday, 25th, 2024.

During this period, a special committee chaired by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health Institutions will verify documents and conduct fresh registration meetings with proprietors. This rigorous process aims to restore confidence in the state's healthcare system and ensure citizens receive quality care from registered and reputable institutions.
