Mob Justice: Two Revenue Collectors Set Ablaze in Anambra Over Fatal Accident


A horrific incident occurred in Onitsha, Anambra State, when an angry mob set two revenue collectors ablaze, leaving four others to narrowly escape with their lives. The tragic events unfolded on Venn Road by Egerton Bus Stop, where the revenue collectors were chasing a tipper driver over a payment dispute .


Eyewitnesses recounted the chaotic scene, stating that the revenue collectors, numbering six, were pursuing the tipper driver, who ultimately lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a bystander, killing him instantly. The mob, fueled by rage and a sense of justice, turned on the revenue collectors, setting two of them ablaze while the others managed to flee .


The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the incident, with spokesman SP Tochukwu Ikenga stating that the police are working with relevant authorities to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and find a solution to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
