In a historic move, Governor Peter Mbah has officially flagged off the construction of multiple roads spanning 78.85km in Nkanu East and West Local Government Areas, marking a significant milestone in his administration's infrastructure development agenda. This monumental achievement has earned him widespread acclaim, with Hon. Monday Diamond Ani, Director-General of Peace and Good Governance Group (P3G), praising him as a "Presidential Material."
Ani particularly commended Governor Mbah for incorporating the Nkerefi roads (Nara/Nkerefi and Mburubu/Nkerefi roads), totaling 16.20 km, into the project. The Mburubu-Nkerefi link road, which has hindered the free flow of transportation of farm produce and posed economic challenges to the two communities for over four decades, is now poised for transformation.
Governor Mbah's remarkable achievements include being the first Governor in Africa to establish a tractor assembling plant, the first Governor in Africa to build a State-owned Five Star International Hotel and Conference Centre, and the first Governor in Nigeria to establish an asphalt plant. Ani noted that these accomplishments demonstrate Governor Mbah's exceptional leadership and vision.
Ani expressed his gratitude to Governor Mbah, stating, "Your Excellency, I never regretted supporting you, because you are making us proud. Ndi Nkerefi are very happy and proud of you, and Ndi Enugu are also very proud of you, thank you, Your Excellency. God bless you."
This development is part of Governor Mbah's broader plan to construct and rehabilitate 81 roads across Enugu State, including 71 roads in Enugu metropolis and 10 major roads connecting various local governments. The project aims to enhance transportation, stimulate economic growth, and improve the overall quality of life for residents. The total length of the roads spans 78.85km, benefiting Nkanu East and West Local Government Areas.
The Nkerefi road project is expected to have a profound impact on the local economy, creating jobs and opportunities for farmers, traders, and artisans. The improved road network will also facilitate access to healthcare, education, and social services, further bridging the gap between rural and urban communities.
Governor Mbah's commitment to infrastructure development has been unwavering since his inauguration. His administration has invested heavily in road construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance, demonstrating a clear understanding of the sector's critical role in driving economic growth. According to the Enugu State Government, the project's completion date will be announced soon.
As Governor Mbah continues to make strides in infrastructure development, his reputation as a visionary leader is cemented. With his innovative approach and dedication to public service, he is indeed a Presidential Material. Ani's endorsement is a testament to Governor Mbah's growing national appeal and his potential to make a significant impact on the country's political landscape.
The people of Enugu State and beyond eagerly await the completion of the Nkerefi road project and other initiatives, expecting transformative changes in their lives and communities. Hon. Monday Diamond Ani's statement was made available to the press through the Peace and Good Governance Group (P3G).
