Mystery Surrounds Hotel Death:  Police Investigate Suspected Suicide of 32-Year-Old Man

A chilling discovery was made at Authentic Hotel in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where 32-year-old Lanre Ogungbe was found dead in his hotel room. The Police Command has launched an investigation into the suspected suicide, sparking concerns about the circumstances surrounding Ogungbe's tragic demise.

According to SP Omolola Odutola, the command's spokesperson, the hotel owner reported the incident to the Lafenwa police station at 3 p.m. on Thursday after the hotel manager raised the alarm. A receptionist had checked on Ogungbe, who had booked a room for a short rest, and found his lifeless body on the bed.

Police detectives swiftly responded to the scene and found an empty bottle of "Lakoko" (an alcoholic drink) and a bottle of "sniper" (a pesticide) beside the deceased. With no signs of violence on his body, Ogungbe's remains were evacuated to the General Hospital in Ijaiye for medical examination and later deposited in the morgue for a post-mortem examination.

"The hotel owner reported that the deceased checked into the hotel for a short rest. When the receptionist went to check on him, she discovered his lifeless body," Odutola explained. "The scene was condoned off, and the exhibits were left untouched before the police arrived."

The Ogun Police Command is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter. As the investigation unfolds, questions surrounding Ogungbe's death remain unanswered. Authorities are working to determine the motivations behind the suspected suicide and whether any external factors contributed to the tragic event.
