According to local reports, the assailants, riding in large numbers on motorcycles and heavily armed, descended upon rural communities around 12 a.m., shooting indiscriminately and terrorizing residents who were asleep. The attacks, believed to have been carried out by the same network of terrorists, left scenes of devastation in their wake.

The most brutal of the assaults occurred in Gidanfako Sisawa, a quiet village in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State, where two people were killed and four others sustained gunshot wounds. Eyewitnesses said the attackers also abducted ten villagers, including women and children, before escaping into the forest.

Around the same time, Sarai Ward in Marunfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State came under siege. Residents recounted how the gunmen opened fire randomly, injuring two people and kidnapping ten others. The attackers reportedly operated for over an hour without resistance, carting away valuables and foodstuffs.

In Kalgo Ward, Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, two people were confirmed dead and one other kidnapped in another late-night raid. Locals described the attack as “merciless,” adding that the terrorists moved door to door, targeting homes suspected of having wealthy occupants.

Similarly, in Mai Laya community, Maska Ward, Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State, one person was killed, two others injured, and several cattle rustled by the armed men. Residents say the attackers fired sporadically into the air before stealing livestock and fleeing towards the forest reserves.

The bloodshed continued in Lanjegu Ward of Sokoto State, where two people were killed, three injured, and fifteen kidnapped. Witnesses told journalists that the gunmen arrived on motorcycles and pickup vans, setting houses ablaze and looting properties before making away with their captives.

These attacks, which occurred nearly simultaneously across different locations, have sparked fears of increased coordination among terrorist cells operating in the North-West region. Security experts warn that such synchronized assaults may signal a broader strategic move by insurgents seeking to destabilize rural communities and expand their territorial influence.

The latest incidents have provoked outrage among residents and community leaders, who have called on the federal and state governments to act swiftly. Many locals lamented the continued vulnerability of their communities despite ongoing military operations in the region.

This is becoming unbearable. Every night, we sleep with fear, not knowing who will be attacked next,” said a local leader in Wurno. “We need the government to protect us before we are all wiped out.”

As of press time, security agencies are yet to release an official statement regarding the attacks. However, unconfirmed sources indicate that joint military patrols have been deployed to the affected areas to prevent further assaults.

The tragic events of November 4, 2025, serve as another painful reminder of the rising insecurity ravaging Northern Nigeria — a crisis that continues to claim innocent lives, displace families, and destroy livelihoods, with no immediate end in sight.
