Residents of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, were thrown into panic and mourning after a suspected cult-related attack left four people dead and two others seriously injured following a late-night shooting in the Post Office area of the city.
The deadly incident, which occurred around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, has heightened concerns over the resurgence of cult violence and criminal activities within the state.
According to information gathered, a group of heavily armed hoodlums invaded a popular shanty bamboo bar located along the railway line in the Post Office area and opened fire indiscriminately on people gathered at the relaxation spot before fleeing the scene.
Witnesses said the attackers arrived unexpectedly and unleashed terror on unsuspecting victims, causing chaos as residents and patrons scampered for safety amid the sound of gunshots.

According to the command, tactical teams, intelligence units and covert operatives have been fully mobilised across strategic locations to ensure that every individual connected to the attack is arrested and prosecuted.
"Tactical, intelligence and covert assets have been fully mobilised to track down every individual connected to the crime, with a firm commitment that all suspects will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law," the statement said.
